Surely not! Let’s take a look.
A study of 364 men in America has emphatically revealed that use of the mobile phone for more than four hours a day has a damaging effect on men’s fertility.
As a bloke, I should think I’m as well equipped as any to offer my reaction, and here it is…
Four hours a day!!
What self-respecting male talks on their mobile phone for fours hours a day? I don’t think there’s anything particularly unusual in my own mobile behaviour and I’d say maybe ten minutes, fifteen if I’ve got something important to say!
Here’s a typical conversation…
“hello mate”
“yep, pop round whenever”
“ok, see you in ten”
“bye”
Enough said.
In fact a quick poll of the dialaphone office has revealed the following. There is one person who admits to spending more than hour at a time on the phone, but this is only very occasionally, and she is, of course, a woman, and therefore, I presume, “safe”!
Anyway, a slightly more careful read of the research indicates that the results are not exactly watertight, and that perhaps a little more time could be given to the possibility that people spending that long on the phone are also likely to be spending quite a large amount of time sitting on their a***, drinking too much and consuming more than the recommended amount of junk.
In summary, don’t put your phones away yet!
I’ll leave you with a brilliant quote from British “expert” Dr Allan Pacey,
“This is a good study but I don’t think it tackles the issue!”

Hi!
For hundreds and hundreds of years human-kind has used the herbs that Mother Nature provided to us free of charge! Healers, wise-women and men, magickal practitioners, great chefs…all knew the benefits of these wonderful plants. Some of this information has been forgotten or has fallen out of use in favor of our modern chemical substitutes. It’s high time we re-educated ourselves! Here you will find wonderful articles on using herbs for medicinal uses, what herbs make wonderful baths, recipes (this’ll liven up your cooking!) herbal history, homeopathy, aromatherapy, herbal lore, ritual uses of herbs….just about anything that has to do with herbs. Where to get those herbs? I have just the place! For excellent quality bulk herbs, organic and wildcrafted try Herbs Actives Program
Thanks All

Nice! We really amused by the website.
The abstract of the study ends with this conclusion: ‘These data suggest that EMR emitted by cellular phone influences human sperm motility. In addition to these acute adverse effects of EMR on sperm motility, long-term EMR exposure may lead to behavioral or structural changes of the male germ cell. These effects may be observed later in life, and they are to be investigated more seriously.’ Slightly worrying I think you’ll agree, and possibly a good reason to keep your phone in a coat pocket.
Current advice states that if you want to keep the radiation from your mobile at a minimum, you should call in an area with excellent mobile coverage and avoid metal cases for phones (as metal blocks the radio signals, causing your phone to increase it’s transmitting power.) If you are thinking that your phone will be safe in your jeans, think again, as each mobile sends (roughly) one three second message per hour to the mobile phone network, telling them where you are.
On the subject of whacky US surveys, perhaps Dial-a-phone should commission one.
How about a study into the effects on US women of spending LESS than 4 hours a day on their mobiles?
Im thinking
* serious benefits to the US economy from freeing up valuable shopping time
* conversly, this could significantly accelerate the onset of global warming as they’ll spend more time in their gas guzzling SUVs visiting friends they should be phoning.
Sounds like a pretty vital piece of research for Pacey Al to get stuck into.
Any other suggestions?
