Just as the dust is settling from the news of Apple’s huge announcement of their much anticipated iPhone, I bring you news that Nokia’s very own eagerly awaited N95 could be coming out very soon…possibly as soon as next month!
It is pretty well know that the N95 is expected some time in the first quarter of 2007, though rumours could suggest a release as soon as February! However we should probably take this with a pinch of salt, as things usually don’t go according to plan in the mobile world! Oh what exciting times!

For those who are not familiar with the N95, here’s a quick whiz of the N95’s key features:
- 5 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, flash and DVD-like video quality (VGA 30fps)
- Built-in GPS, maps covering over 100 countries and 15 million location highlights
- Unique 2-way slide for fast transition from a powerful multimedia computer to player
- GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA for super fast downloads (up to 10 times faster than 3G!)
- 160MB of internal memory and MiniSD card support
In a nutshell this has to be the best phone produced by Nokia to date. In fact this has to be the best phone produced by anyone to date! Nokia really have pulled out all the stops with this beauty, and you’ll be hard pressed to find another phone with as good a set of features – a massive 5MP camera and 160MB of memory, built-in GPS, super fast downloads, Wi-Fi, UPnP technology, 3.5mm audio output jack, Office document viewer, quality screen and much more…it basically has everything you could possibly want in a phone!
With all the buzz of the iPhone, I guess the big question is whether or not the N95 is better than the iPhone? Being brutally honest the iPhone was a big let down once I had a look at its specs – no 3G, only a 2 Megapixel camera, slightly larger, no GPS, no office applications, all for a phone that is “…Five years ahead of its time…” (Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple). Looking at the specs, Id have to say the N95 seems streets ahead. However, both look set to be very popular and only time will tell which will be the more successful phone.
Stay tuned for further updates on the N95 here!
Mobile Phones UK have awarded the N95 4 stars in their Nokia N95 Review and Recommended Buys have also awarded the N95 4 stars in their Nokia N95 Review.

Steven, from what I’ve gathered, first shipments should arrive on the 7th March, so anticipate it to hit the dealers pretty soon after that.
The handset I expect will not be cheap! It will cost somewhere in the region of the Nokia 8800 Sirocco, so could possibly go around the £350 mark, maybe a little more! Think you’d better start saving!
I haven’t heard any announcements on an N95i as yet. Guess that’ll be one to keep an eye out for. If there’s any news on this I’ll let you know.
