Great news guys! Motorola have released another version of the Razr!
Motorola Razr2 V8
Not exactly headline grabbing stuff, but before you stop reading, at least hear what version 27 has to offer.
There are two new models, called the V8 and V9, and they seem very similar apart from the fact that the V9 is 3G/HSDPA. That’s a good start.
Both are thinner than the Razr mk one, and both have an impressive external screen with hardened glass for protection. The outer screen on the original Razr was about a square centimetre big and of no use to anyone, but on the Razr2 it is very nearly as big (2″) as the internal screen (2.2″) and has the same resolution as well (262K colour, TFT, QVGA display) This screen also has touch sensitive elements as well, and apparently delivers an informative vibration when a touch sensitive key is pressed! There’s to be a clever messaging function too that allows the user to respond to messages without opening the handset.
Motorola Razr2 V9
Other features include a two megapixel camera, external touch sensitive music keys and high-quality MPEG 4 video capture. The V8 has an impressive storage capacity and will be released in two versions, one with 420MB internal memory, and one with 2GB, while the V9 will have just 45MB of internal memory but has a microSD memory card slot.
It sounds like a pretty impressive offering from Motorola, but the question is whether yet another Razr will appeal to a market that has matured since the days of the orignal, and now boasts plenty of fashion phones (LG Shine, Samsung U600, Nokia 8800). I could go on about how the Razr is becoming tired, and starting to backfire on Motorola, but I wouldn’t do nearly as good a job as these people, who have written an excellent article explaining just that!
If you’re looking for some excellent independent reviews, Mobile Phones UK has awarded the Razr 2 V8 4 stars in their Motorola Razr2 V8 Review and the Razr 2 V9 4 stars in their Motorola Razr2 V9 Review.
Recommended Buys has also awarded the Razr 2 V8 4 stars in their Motorola Razr2 V8 Review and the Razr 2 V9 4 stars in their Motorola Razr2 V9 Review

wow!! so smarty all.. hey do u wanna use one cool appl on yr favourite device?? i found. I wanted to let people know about what the company has created.
The Facebook application version lets you see your friends pictures as caller ID. The Facebook version works for MotoV9 phones. Here you can go : http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=9215392534
After installing the facebook app, just go to: http://get.vringo.com on your phones browser.
Free to use and easy to set up, Vringo lets you quickly send your friends Facebook pix to your cell phone.
First phone: faulty battery, having to charge every few hours. 1 10min call to vodafone to ask for replacement and lost 1/3rd of battery life. Vodafone store did take off the 3g in case that was draining battery, and I had all the usual settings to conserve battery life, but that had not helped.
Second phone arrived yesterday 12th March. Battery seems ok but awful distortion on 4 out of 5 calls, again including 1 to vodafone when it just died on me! So have asked for a different make and model. Given up on Motorola V9 which is a shame because I loved my old v3.
Motorola is the best, i have the new V8 and is absolutly amasing, the best ever, i never change from motorola since the startac. I hope the new v9 will be released soon….
my contract runs out very very soon and want the v9 but i’m on t-mobile and they only have the v8. i have looked around to try and find the v9 but no luck, went in to a t-mobile store and they said its not been released yet. does anyone know when it will be released?
i want a orange one!
The claims Motorola makes about their phone line up is asinine. Motorola reported to phonescoop.com that the battery life standby time is 12.1 DAYS!!! They can try to fool me yet can not fool the Almighty Phone Gurus.
Looking for a phone with shitty user interface and terrible battery life. BUY THE RAZR 2!!! This is what the consumer will get!
Don’t get me wrong, Motorola has a very good design team when it comes to physical aspects of this phone. They should lay off there software developers & battery “experts”. Correction, it looks like motorola has been doing alot of this firing lately.—–>>>
Can’t believe these comments. I use a V3 I-Tunes Motorola and over the past year it has been outstanding. Quality is far better than my previous Nokia and Samsung phones. Web and email are the best I’ve seen. Sharp pictures and movies from a light compact phone. Best of all is the large screen. Why change a winning design?? Think Porche, think VW Golf, think Rolex. Motorola please continue to evolve the design – we love it!
Motorola sucks ????
No way this new Moto RAzr 2 looks stunning I’ve had a V3i for over a year now & it is much better that Sony ericssions, Nokia etct etc
Can not wait for the new one to be realeased !!
COME ON MOTOROLA !!!
I’m totally inclined to agree with Bob. I had a Motorola V3 that used to crash all the time.
They have hardly any RAM and their browsers are seriously flaky.
I think they should focus on what the phone can do, rather than how it looks. Motorola are the Posh Spice or Paris Hilton of phone producers.
Cheers,
Motorola SUCK, they cant even come up with a new design for their phones so they just add a few new features to a very old (and poor) design. STOP IT ALREADY!
Everyone Motorola sucks now. They are still on about the RAZR! It used to be in fashion but not there days…
the motorola kraza is still new
I moved on to a different phone last year only to find that the Razr is more than fashion phone; it’s usability masterpiece. I’m missing it big stylie and I’ll be getting the Razr2 as soon as my contract runs out next month!
