Brainiac Jon Tickle Joins Dialaphone Blog

Published August 3, 2007 by Harriet Rhodes in Uncategorized

We are really excited to have Jon Tickle joining us at Dialaphone to present our new video content. Jon first shot to fame as a contestant on Big Brother 4, actually becoming the first ever contestant to be returned to the house after eviction. Since then, he’s appeared on television in various shows, and currently co-presents the show Brainiac: Science Abuse on Sky One.

So why bring in Jon Tickle? Well, we love the fact that he’s unashamedly passionate about science and technology yet has the talent to explain even complex science in layman’s terms. Jon isn’t your standard celebrity either. Jon never wanted, or allowed, that celebrity should offer him an escape from his normal life. Jon likes his life just fine thanks.  For Jon, celebrity is something he enjoys purely in his spare time. The guy may be a sci-fi nut, but he also happens to be one of the most grounded and practical people you could know.

Jon still works as a Data Strategy Manager for Centrica, and only performs any of the ‘celebrity’ stuff, including filming Brainiac, in his spare time or during vacations. If you ask why, he smiles a little and tells you that he enjoys his job, has a car, a nice home, and a good lifestyle already. We like that. It exudes a Zen-like satisfaction that is incredibly rare in today’s world.

Is Mr Tickle a bit of a geek? Well sure, but in the greatest way. He’s intelligent, honest, generous, and passionate about his interests, and has a quirky, dry humour that makes him a very chic geek. Jon makes no apologies for who he is, and that kind of self-assurance and honesty is exactly what any good presenter should have.

You only need to glance at the honest and down-to-earth comments you, our readers, made in response to seeing the ridiculously expensive phones we featured in our 10 most expensive phones article to see that this will be a good match. Like you, Jon tells it like it is, and doesn’t enjoy the pretentious nonsense that some glitterazzi try to peddle.

Jon Tickle certainly has experience in both real science and with wacky experiments. His ‘walking on custard’ experiment filmed for Brainiac is a classic piece of wacky brilliance. We are certain he’s going to bring a lot of unusual insights to our new video content. Most importantly, we believe you, our customers, are going to get a lot out of his posts here, and that’s what really counts.

Look out for video blog posts from Jon on the Dialaphone blog in the very near future. ;)

Jon Tickle was the most annoying person in Big Brother. He may be brainy but it doesn’t make you interesting.

I love Jon Tickle. His child-like innocence touches the very depths of my blackened, cynical soul.

Whereas before, I would have reviled and loathed any advertising for a mobile telecommunications company, I will be sure to gaze in slack-jawed wonder at his golden, smooth-limbed physique, learning his words, so I can repeat them back on cold, rainy nights.

He is a God for our time. A modern day prophet. He should be the next James Bond.

We need a temple of Tickle.

I have seen the light. It is Tickle-shaped.

    Hi Joe,

Good idea but Jon will only be popping into the office when required.
