Nokia’s existing premium range mobile phones, the 8600 Luna and the 8800 Sirocco are beautifully styled phones, but lack an impressive list of features to justify their hefty price-tags. Nokia however, have just unveiled two new models that maintain the breath-taking style of the aforementioned phones and boast some serious features too.

The 8800 ‘Arte’ and the 8800 ‘Arte Sapphire’ are the two new models in question, easily differentiated by colour, the ‘Arte’ is black and the ‘Arte Sapphire’ is brown and by the whole sapphire mounted in the centre of the ‘Arte Sapphire’s’ D-pad. Both are 3G phones and have 3-megapixel auto-focus cameras and a massive 1GB of internal memory! Their elegant slider design helps maintain a fuss-free front panel, broken only by the D-pad control and inside the flashy box, a linen-lined pouch to keep your phone safe and warm and a Bluetooth headset can be found.

As always, it’s the special touches that make the duo stand out. For example, a couple of taps on the steel fascia wakes the clock up on the display, which also has something called ‘living wallpaper’, first seen on the Nokia 7900 Prism (pictured below), which changes and adapts to time, battery power and signal strength. The coolest new feature has to be the ability to silence you ringing phone simply by turning it face down on the table! To further set these two apart from Nokia’s more run-of-the-mill phones, they feature exclusively created videos, sounds and ringtones.
As with the previous Nokia 8800 phones, the ‘Arte’ pair are constructed using the highest quality materials and have a special fingerprint retardant coating on the panels, with the ‘Arte Sapphire’ going one better by having a soft-touch Indian Goat-hide covering too! One can never accuse Nokia of not thinking differently!

With the 8800 Arte expected to be available before the end of the year, and the Arte Sapphire following in early 2008, potential owners should start putting some money aside, as neither of these will be cheap – but then exclusivity never is.

hi first sorry for my English. i wanna bay this phone but i don’t wanna give money for some replica or something i want original.used or brand new Thanks you!!!!!!Nikolay
if i send you pic on this phone can you tell me the phone is original or not…..
Great phone, got it from Vodafone for £150 as an upgrade. It truely is beautiful, it was an engagement present from my other half as I do not want a ring!!
If you guys are near your contract end, Vodafone will reduce the price as long as you haggle them down!! Very similar to the Sirrocco but a world apart from any other phone on the market. The screen is bigger on the arte sapphire making it better to view your pictures, but again I just use my phone to text and call, I do not download songs or videos so not sure how it would compare to other phones!!
A high price for a luxury phone, unless you are lucky enough to haggle Vodafone down! I understand its only currently available offline or on Vodafone. Let me know if anyone has got it cheaper, would be good to hear your stories!!
Enjoy your lovely phones!! (but dont forget to insure them!!)
where can i get the cheapest one from
if you aint got it or dont get it then 1 word for ya unlucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have just bought the Nokia 8800 ‘Arte Sapphire’, and like all my previous nokia’s i have been especially pleased with them. I still have my nokia 8800 Sirocco in black and i will keep it. They are a work of art and i cant be bothered with having phones that have loads of gadgets on them which i will probably never use. If i want a camera i would get a proper camera and not have one on a phone. I just want it to call and text. However i do go for looks, and this is certainly my favorite phone now. I just look forward to what their upgrade to this will be like because they are getting better and better.
Please can u let me know when the Nokia Saphire Arte is available.
I own the 8800 Arte and it’s a real slick phone. I’ve had the 8600 Luna before this and a normal 8800 before that. They all were veryvery beatiful, but this is by far the best of all and the most beautifull of all. Nokia keep it up!
by the way i have a comment about a comment that i just red from ( moos february 28th,2008 at 3:34 pm)
well moos with all my respect for you,if you dont like nokia just simply dont make any comment, its not a maturad man who says nokia sucks while million of poeple are reading the comments, you can say nokia did work with me,or i didnt like the options of it or any negative words but in a nice way just dont be so rude !
with my respect….
im 23 years old, sicnce the age of 14 i ‘ve been using only the nokia phone, any kind of it is amasing,i even have pics of all the phones that i have used till now,as we say in french nokia is “chapeaux bas” the best ever, now is have the black sericco 8800,i cant wait till i get the nokia arte sappihre,i wish to have it as a present from my fiance, but if not i m going to buy it b4 my wedding dress !
still and will always be the best by using nokia phones !
nokia sucks
to buy/own a Nokia 8800 series isnt about having 5M pixel camera…its about having a phone that not many people will have. right now ive got the Luna and all my friends are amazed and probably will never see another person with it =) i just love NOKIA!!!!!!!!!
When Dial-a-phone is including this phone in the pay monthly contract?
i like very good
very sexy like me
u like because i love
The classic series from 8850 / 8910i / 8800 have proven to be a success and I have had them all. These phones never go wrong and always impressive in your pockets.
BRING ON THE ARTE
@ henry … errmm … … well … … ever heard of selling first out OLD technology to the masses to maximize profit? Look at intel, AMD, Cars … hey … … … all the things we have in our consuming society.
Look at the iPhone agressive marketing strategy and iPhone selling figures … paying nonetheless at least a total of? 1200 USD (with contract)? for what? for a retro-phone from the past and it is praised to revolutionize the phone industry? get real … … … hey if you can afford it, buy it, love it, use it, … …
and to Nokia … AT LAST, FINALLY A NOKIA SLEEK LOOKING 3G PHONE (not to speak over the N-series … just … … nevermind) … … Anyway I’m looking forward to this new 3G phone … … and so after roaming off brands … I guess I will finally end up again with a Nokia afterall … … … (Ericsson > Nokia 8800 > Nokia 8800 Sirocco > Ericsson K800i > HTC 3300 > Nokia 8800 Arte?!?!?!?!)
A beautiful phone, that has all the precision and detail required. Nokia have defiantly hit the right customers who have class/style and originality. The Sapphire Arte is the phone I will be adding to my collection when it comes out. A stylish phone for a stylish woman!
Well done Nokia for your distinctive creativity!
hi. . . you know it is so good . . . good if you gave me one of that . . pls
rahman from america you can get that fone from a fone shop.
i lost my fone anybody seen it
this phone is awsome i cant wait till it is released im going to get it straght away
… Awesome style and made with precision. But again, lack of features. However, looking forward to buy this beauty
My precious….
As a Nokia 8800 and Sirocco Edition owner, I’l certainly be giving one of these some serious consideration but I was hoping the ‘latest’ 8xxx series Nokia would come in Silver. The Silver & White Sirocco looks gorgeous so its a shame the Arte range doesn’t have one at launch.
The (standard) Black Arte looks a little cheap actually, from those photos. Never really been a fan of brown but I think I’l either be buying an Arte Saphire (far more classy appearance with that leather!) and/or be waiting for Nokia to release a chrome/silver one like the Sirocco or at least a silver aftermarket casing to show up on Ebay…
firoz you are right on mate, I still got my 8910i its an all time classic. Commenting on the pricing by vj you are exactly right I got my black 8800 well over a year ago for around £270 I could easily sell it today for a minimum of 200 look at others like the k810i when it came out it was approaching £300 and that was after I got my 8800 now you can get it for £70 on pay as you go!!!!
the bat was rubbish on my 8800 so i got the sirocco and it was fine, the phone is not about features its about how it looks thats the point, i will get one the day it comes out.
I agree with some of you all, but most of you guys knows nothing but just barking. The 8800
series is a kind of LUXURY good, just like world most expensive phone (Vertu). Why all of you keep on mention about functions with this master piece. It’s just like an MVP car and a Ferrari. This phone is for millionaire. If you guys want, just go get an N95 or N82. 8800 is for high status person, not ordinary one like you guys. Try understand Nokia’s marketing plan, we call this Marketing segmentation in Marketing!!!!! Nokia not stupid.
Couple of pals have the 8800 Sirocco – lovely phone! At first look this one seems even better, with even more refinement for the more discerning customer. Lets face it, those people with a penchant for gimmicks will most likely hate it…. Those with a taste for the finer things in life will love it!
I’ll be gettin my hands on one mid January and ridding myself of the gimmicky N-Series i’ve be ladened with.
Tata!! Ha
bring back the 8910i!!!
best 8 series phone ever!!
Class act.
is a nice phone but i love and i have the gold 8800 18k….
luks slick stylish smooth n sensual.. deffo gettin it sooon! the 8 series wont ever lose value.. theyre gangstaa fonez
When is this phone availablefor purchase and contract?
I think the arte series will be great. This phone is for people who always want style and art.I agree to you all.It is expensive yet sometimes rubbish in other contents of it.But i will have this phone if its worth having it
vj are you that superficial, that you’re willing to pay that much just to look good. you need to get out more.
That phone is like opening up a big boxed present only to find a a small gift in side it its a let down.
@ engineer & vj
A fair point made by both of you, that its all about style, but let me put it to this way, if Versace or other well known designer takes a crap and rolls it up in a cling foil, stamps its brand name on it and sells it for £599 would you still buy it.
i agree with you guys that the phone looks very nice but look at the iphone granted its £269 but its looks very cool and you could do a lot more on it the the Nokia 8800 Arte Series.
this mobil is very nice and buetifull
Rahman…. i’m from America…. i don’t know where to get this phone… can U tell me ???
this looks like a remake of the 8600 LUNA. i have a luna and will not be upradeing to this. the price will be one reason and the similarity will be another
I can get the Saphire one for £1200 now from America if any one is interested?
I completely dont agree to henry and Dr brown but hats off to Mr Engineer . i think this phone is made for people who like style and status not musicians if u wanna hv a music phone why not buy sonys or n81. people u hv to under stand this is not a normal phone. this is an art which cannot be compared with other phones cause nokia has the monoply in designer phones and i think no one can compare it. i hv used the sirrocco and i am using the luna and after using them i hv sold them at a price which is more then the price of most of the new handsets so why do u think people still buy them . when u buy this phone forget about battery life just think about style do u think about mileage when u buy a ferrari.
I WANNA BY ONE????
rubbish phone do not buy
a did liked nokia but after da N-SERIES a jus hate dem.a had all da N-SERIES PHONES a work for a multi national telecom company so a do no abt phones but a think this time a would go 4 ARTE.its seems 2 b nice!
i want that phone but when is going to come out
and how much will it cost??
the nokia arte will retail at around 700 GBP, and the saphire arte will retail at around 850 GBP, the arte will be set to release by the end of the year and the saphire arte is set to release early next year.
When will you bums realise that the 8 series is not about crammin gimmicks and fads into phones, its about engineering brilliance and beautiful design. I want my mobile to make and receive phone calls not take half decent pictures or watch hd quality videos on a bloody 2″ screen like an idiot.
The 8 series is not just about being a phone, why buy a rolex when you can buy a casio?
chuck norris says this phone is for women, got any problems? i have a round house kick to the face with your name on it.
chuck norris doesn’t shave. he kicks himself in the face. the only thing that can cut chuck norris is……….chuck norris
feminine phone r u crazyyy!!!!! dont ever say that again ok he’ll be available in january i hope
The price is said to be around 1000 euro voor the arte and 1150 voor the saphire. Both prices are before taxes so do the maths.
hmmmmmmmmmmm Arte sapphire, the 8800 is a very feminine phone
Hello, I really liked the phone and I want to get one. I wonder when exactly is it going to be on sale?
when will this phone be available
tihs phone is good but pricey ive gt all da 8800 and da luna any1 no da price for this
The phone is very nice but there is a problem with the Battery. Every day I need to charge my phone!
The 8800’s arnt about the features.. Its about just owning a smooth phone with a quality feel. Awsome phones!
I completly agree with Henry this is yet another feeble attempt by nokia. For the money the camera should now be 5mp, the internal memory should by at least 4gb and i bet the battery life is wrong as with the previous 8800’s probably 8 hours stand by and 30 mis talk time.
you beautiful my nokiaa
the 1 b4 this update was the crapest phone i have ever had do not buy 1
its an amazing handset
another pointless over priced handset from nokia. it’s nothing new all it has now is 3g and 3 mega pix camera. why not have those features on the nokia 8800 series when 1st released.
