With over 200 million units sold, the Nokia 1100 is the most popular selling mobile phone ever, simply because it’s cheap and does what you need it to do. How long do you think before the iphone gets into the many millions?

If there’s any phones you think we may have missed, let us know and we’ll add them to the list.

The iPhone has sold 4 million in the US as of January 14th, 2008.

I’m sure it will never come close to the 200 million of the Nokia 1100 – that number is just amazing. Maybe if it were as cheap as the 1100, but never mind.

I expect the iPhone, in its various forms that it is sure to take, to hit 20 million by Christmas 2009, and to hit the 50 million mark by the end of 2010.
By the time it reaches 50 million, though, the iPhone will be a very different device, coming in low and high end models, and likely to be more computer than phone.

And I’ll bet the Nokia 1100 STILL sells another 50 million in that time, too.

I still love the old Star Trek style mobile I had a few years ago. Whatever happened to those thin flip up phones, like the Enterprise communicators?
