Samsung raised a few eyebrows with its Ultra series of super-slim phones last year, offering ground-breaking flat and lightweight designs to the mid-range market. It might come as a bit of a surprise then to see the new L310 and L320 phones from its clamshell selection taking a different tack entirely. They’re from the ‘La Fleur’ range, and so we shouldn’t be shocked to read that they’re marketed as ‘one for the ladies’.

Featuring elegantly artistic squirly flower designs on the exterior, Samsung manages to avoid traditionally tacky pink rose petal gimmick-phones in favour of something you might feel more at home with at a sophisticated dinner party. The tri-band 310 is available in black and gold and even comes with ‘female’ applications
such as a shopping list, fragrance selector and calorie counter. Perhaps less importantly there’s also a 2.0MP camera, 3.5mm ‘phones connection, FM radio and stereo Bluetooth. The more rounded design of the L320 doesn’t look quite as classy but does offer similar features along with a slightly larger display and a microSD-card slot for upping the internal capacity; we can see the latter being more suitable as a media phone.

For the sophisticated lady who doesn’t mind being pigeonholed, both phones should be available sometimes next month, which doesn’t leave much time to find matching shoes and a bag.
