Nokia 6600 Slide Puts 6500 In The Shade

Published May 1, 2008 by Dialaphone in Uncategorized

Nokia’s 6600 slide is one of two slider phones from its new mid-range releases, and should appeal to those who might be put off by the clamshell version of the same number – the 6600 Fold, because of its underspecced 2MP camera. The slide version features a far more respectable 3.2MP model, with autofocus and flash, and can capture video at up to 30 frames per second. It’s a particularly compact phone as well, one of Nokia’s smallest slide-models to date at just 14mm thick, 90mm long and 45 wide.

There’s a multimedia player built in with support for MP3, AAC and WMA formats, an FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 and expandable memory via microSD. One feature the slide does have in common with the fold model is the touch-sensitive feature that allows you to show the time, snooze alerts and reject or silence incoming calls. It also offers a slightly larger 2.2″ display, support for video calling and the optional GPS module on offer with the other phones in the new range. When you throw in 3G support, the 6600 Slide appears to offer the best combination of features of the three mid-range handsets, and priced at around 250 euros isn’t too pricey either. Like the 6600 Fold and 3600, you can expect to see this impressive addition on the shelves in Q3 2008.

Take a look at a review on the 6600 Slide by going to Mobile Phones’ Nokia 6600 Slide review, or Recommended Buys’ Nokia 6600 Slide review, or both. Its always nice when you can get a second or even third opinion.
