Building publicity for the iPhone and iPhone 3G was quite easy for those allowed to sell the device on launch day – people were happy to queue at flagship stores to get the device first.
Today the iPhone launches in another 20 countries around the world and the excitement level isn’t quite as high. In Poland Orange has been apparently trying to recreate the launch day excitement by paying “dozens” of actors to wait in line outside the stores. Local press are likely to publish the pictures anyway – by the time they find out it will probably be too late to find more photos.

It’s interesting to see the lengths companies will go to in order to generate publicity about a launch.
