Samsung’s newest handsets being given the i**** style model numbers are showing the Korean manufacturer is maturing quickly.  The forthcoming i8510 INNOV8 is a sure-fire business orientated winner and this freshly leaked i7110 is a beautifully styled mid-range candybar phone with a 5MP camera.  Details are thin on the ground, but here’s what we know:

  • Rear mounted 5MP camera lens with autofocus and a flash unit.
  • It will be running Symbian software.
  • Expandable memory using a MicroSD card.
  • Pictures show a front mounted video call lens, so 3G and HSDPA seem likely.

The design team at Samsung are one of the best in the world and the i7110 is another beauty.  We love the mix of metal and plastic used in the body and the keypad looks sensibly laid out, with plenty of space in between each key.  It’s looks are somewhat reminiscent of the Nokia 6000-series Classic handsets, which is high praise indeed!

Speculation about additional features not mentioned or clearly indicated in the pictures include GPS and Wi-Fi, however, if this is a mid-range handset it’s likely to be one or the other.  The expectation is that we will see this released in the Autumn, so official details shouldn’t be too far away.  Another high quality handset to look out for from Samsung!
