Eagle-eyed readers will recognise the Sony Ericsson T700 as being the now official incarnation of the Remi, which we discussed back at the beginning of July.  Promoted as the successor of the famed T610, the attractive new T700 will be available sometime during Q4 of 2008.

Here’s a rundown of its key features:

  • A 3.2 megapixel camera with a flash and 3x digital zoom.
  • It’s a quad-band 3G handset with HSDPA support.
  • It features Sony Ericsson’s high quality music software, stereo speakers and a colour coded headset.
  • With a low 78gram weight and a thickness of just 10mm, the T700 will be barely noticeable in a pocket or bag.

Although the T700 is neither a Walkman or CyberShot branded handset, it hasn’t left either function with the bare-bones in terms of functionality.  Perhaps the camera has suffered most with the lack of autofocus, but the stock Sony Ericsson music player is superb and still features MegaBass, TrackID, playlists and the ability to display album art.  A 512MB storage card should be inside the box to get you started too. The design may not be as ground-breaking as the T610 was, but it’s still a great looking device.  The 3G HSDPA connection has given the T700 a front mounted video call lens, email and web access using Sony Ericsson’s decent Access NetFront browser.  The 2″ screen with a resolution of 240×320 should be fine for watching video clips and there is an FM RDS radio if you run out of music and video too.  Look put for the T700 in three different colour schemes very soon!
