Sony Ericsson have announced that their new flagship smartphone the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia will be will us by the end of September, shipping from September 30th at the earliest in the UK, Germany and Sweden.

I got a chance to have a look at the X1 close up over the weekend, and its an awesome phone. The touchscreen is incredible, and I didn’t realise there’s also a laptop style mouse pad for navigating around the screen. The web browser is also very impressive and data transfer is mega quick with HSDPA and HSUPA connectivity, so prepare to get very excited!

Even though the phone isn’t in the Cybershot range, and doesn’t have the most impressive camera in the Sony Ericsson catalogue, the screen resolution (800 x 480 pixels) is so good that pictures still look fantastic.

I can wait to get my hands on one again.
