If you want your latest camera phone to be lusted after these days, it simply has to have an 8 megapixel lens, as anything else will be seen as ‘mid range’ and therefore far less desirable. LG know better than most that size matters and their new KC780 camera phone not only boasts the all-important number, but plenty of other flashy camera features too.

As has become normal for LG, the camera found on the KC780 is a Schneider Kreuznach branded item which is well known for producing some great images and this one should be no different, especially with the interesting tweaks found in the menu system. The ability to shoot at ISO1600 will improve low light photography considerably – in fact, LG are so proud of this feature, it’s pronounced on the casing – and the inclusion of SmartLight will prevent your image becoming too blown out should your setting be slightly off.

The KC780 also comes loaded with face detection software which will not only recognise and then focus on your subject’s face, but will snap the picture when they smile so you don’t miss the right moment! Beauty Mode can even remove blemishes or imperfections from faces, improving the brightness and clarity of portrait photos. The KC780 also shoots 30fps video too.

This new LG camera phone features Smart Bluetooth, a world first for mobile phones. Smart Bluetooth enhances the mobile phone/PC interface and allows SMS messages to be typed on your computer before being sent and also for the KC780 to be used as a webcam. The beauty of this is the Bluetooth connection lets you and the webcam move around the room instead of being tethered to your PC! The large 2.4″ screen and 13.9mm thick casing makes the new LG look great too.

Release Date

Europe is expected to find the LG KC780 on sale in November.

Also Consider…

Smart Bluetooth can only be found on the LG KC780 at the moment, so if that feature sounds good, the KC780 is for you. The 8 megapixel camera can be found on the Samsung i8510 INNOV8 and the forthcoming Samsung Pixon, plus Sony Ericsson’s C905 and the LG KC910 Renoir. However, as all these phones are yet to go on sale, the 5 megapixel Sony Ericsson C902 and the LG Viewty Smart are great camera phones already available.
