In addition to its name, which earns a spot in the years most ridiculous, the Nokia Wahoo is something of an enigma. The design looks lovely, but more than slightly reminiscent of the Motorola RAZR (a phone, remember, released quite a few years ago), and it sports something called a half-QWERTY keypad; we’re not quite sure what to make of it! Let’s take a closer look:
Key Features of the Nokia Wahoo
- Quad Band with HSDPA support.
- Assisted GPS.
- Symbian operating system.
- A 2 megapixel camera.
- MicroSD card slot for memory expansion and 80MB internal memory.
Exactly what a half QWERTY keypad is hasn’t been fully explained, but we assume it’s something like the SureType keyboard found on the BlackBerry Pearl and the latest BlackBerry Pearl Flip, which the Wahoo seems to be somewhat equal too.
The flip design of the Wahoo blesses it with both an internal and an external display, however neither are anything special. The internal is a 2.2″ TFT displaying 16 million colours at 240×320 and the external is a simple 1.3″ item. At 17mm and 115 grams, it’s no slim lightweight either.
Currently, the word is the Wahoo will be a US exclusive, however Nokia rarely forget their European markets, so don’t be surprised if the Wahoo turns up under a different name here. Overall, we have been left rather confused about the Wahoo, with its good-looking but out-dated design and low spec, but intrigued enough to want to learn more!
