Samsung i7110 – Special Release Report.

Published November 19, 2008 by Andrew Boxall in Uncategorized

We took a brief look at the Samsung i7110 back at the beginning of September, when some early pictures found their way onto the Internet, however there was little in the way of feature information. Thankfully we haven’t had to wait long for Samsung to officially announce their new smartphone, which has turned out to be packed full of technology!

Features of the Samsung i7110.

The i7110 debuted for all to see at the Symbian Smartphone Show, held in London on Monday, and its sharp looks immediately impressed. But the days of Samsung releasing ‘all show and no go’ mobile phones are long gone, as the i7110 packs a serious feature list to match its metal-clad good looks.

It’s a quad-band 3G device with HSDPA support and everything from A2DP Bluetooth to Wi-Fi in terms of connection options. The operating system is Symbian v9.3 S60 with Feature Pack 2, so there are plenty of neat graphical touches and a far cleaner and more interesting set of menus and icons. The Active Standby feature is included, so your often used shortcuts can be added to the home screen for fast access.

The stylish brushed metallic casing makes the i7110 feel solid in the palm of your hand, but does add a little weight, as the phone tips the scales at 125 grams. The screen is 2.6″ and automatically rotates for landscape viewing almost throughout the menu system. On the reverse of the case is the lens for the feature packed 5 megapixel, autofocus camera, complete with flash and a 30fps video mode. Along the side of the handset you’ll find the dedicated camera key, plus another for the built-in FM transmitter for listening to your music collection through any nearby FM radio.

The i7110 completes its main feature list with GPS, geo-tagging, a TV-Out, a MicroSD card slot, a DivX compatible video player, the Symbian music player and a capable web browser. Navigation is with a d-pad and a central optical mouse. The Samsung i7110′s no-nonsense approach to the smartphone business is confirmed by its lack of clever-clever name – we’re looking at you, INNOV8!

Also Consider:

The i7110′s long spec list puts it in line with some very powerful phones, including Samsung’s own INNOV8 and the i900. Obviously the Nokia N95 and other N-series handset’s such as the N79 and N85 – which all challenge the i7110 in the looks department too – make excellent alternatives.
