While mobile access to Google Maps has meant some mobile phone manufacturers have been tardy with their own navigation applications, Nokia have bucked the lazy trend with a notable update to Nokia Maps.
Nokia Maps now features 3D landmarks, speed limit information, traffic delay notifications and web-to-phone syncing, which will allow you to plan a trip online, and then sync it to your phone.
One notable improvement that could save you money in traffic fines, is the real time locations of police speed cameras. There is also a range of live traffic information to ensure you choose the best route to work and avoid any roadworks or previous accidents.
This new version of Nokia Maps includes high resolution aerial photographs, plus 3D landmarks for over 200 countries, making this a truly global application.
If you prefer to walk the walk rather than drive the car, there is also a pedestrian mode, which will get your phone beeping and vibrating to alert you to an upcoming turn in your set journey.
This new version of Nokia Maps can be downloaded from Nokia’s Beta Labs site.
