iPhone Camera As Popular As The Real Thing

Published January 2, 2009 by Harriet Rhodes in News

The huge range of apps on the iPhone has lead to speculation that it’s more of a gaming handset or MP3 player than a phone. Well statistics are now supporting the idea that it may be more of a camera than a phone.

According to social photo gallery site Flickr, the iPhone is the fifth most popular camera to upload to the site. This means that out of all of the Nikons and Canons out there, a mobile phone has trumped their efforts in capturing moments worthy of social networking.

The reason for this may simply be that the iPhone’s functionality is ahead of that of traditional digital cameras in actually getting the image uploaded to the internet. Thanks to the iPhone’s an always-on web connection, this piece of kit is proof of the popularity of convergent technology.

Compared to other camera phones, the iPhone is far ahead of its nearest rival the Nokia N95, which has much better spec than the iPhone’s almost basic use of megapixels.
