Sony Ericsson made the announcement official today, the Sony Ericsson C510 is on its way to us soon. The lastest member of the Cyber-Shot™ family is expected to knock up the tally of 32 million Cyber-Shot™ Sony Ericsson handsets sold to date. The C510, formally referred to at the Kate, is going to be produced as an affordable Cyber-Shot™ by Sony Ericsson and is promised to have all the Quality that we have come to expect from the Cyber-Shot™ range, minus the usually hefty pricetag.

The C510 also brings with it the intoduction of Smile Shutter™ which is a new technology from Sony Ericsson that allows the user to capture the smiles of freinds and family effortlessly by detecting the smile and immediately taking the photo.

To me it looks like Sony Ericsson have set out to keep their promise of delivering a top-quality affordable product and while it may not be the next megapixel beast in line it will certainly pique the interest of the price-savvy consumers. The C510 is expected to go on sale in early February.
