Research In Motion co-Chief Executive Jim Balsillie has respondedto outcry from users over the buggy launch of the Blackberry Storm saying that it was important the the company release the device in time for the the annual American Black Friday spending frenzy. Mr. Balsillie added that this deadline was met “by the skin of their teeth”.

Infuriated users have reported flaws with the operating system, touch screen and camera control systems all of which are vital to the operation of the touchscreen Storm.  After a substantial volume of complaints about the Storm were heard across the net soon after its release, RIM responded quickly with a fix for the bugs.

Mr Balsillie responded to users by saying that minor glitches are a “new reality” of producing large volumes of technologically advanced devices, such as the Storm. He goes on to describes the Storm as “an overwhelming success”, with sales outstripping supply and less than ten percent of them returned.  He says “The sales and performance of the device have lived up to our expectations”.
