The Next Generation of Hands-Free Mobile Phone?

Visit the IA Technology website and you’ll find it’s filled with military tech with little clue they build anything other than components for mobile phones on the side.  However, the BBC have been granted access to their top-secret facility in Hereford, UK and they have seen the future of hands-free mobile phones.

The reporter claims to be unable to demonstrate the product – named the Zumba – but does give an overview of what is the world’s first full voice-recognition mobile phone and how it works.  It looks more like a music player than a phone until you remove the question-mark shaped device from the rear and place it behind your ear.  Now, whenever a call comes in you speak and hear normally, but here’s the clever part, if you receive an SMS it’s read to you and you speak your reply back to it!

IA Technology talk of data being sent and stored from a secure website accessed by the phone too.  They say they hope to have the Zumba ready for sale before Christmas, but it’s not clear if they plan to market the phone themselves or if it will be licenced to another company.  Whatever happens, this is very exciting tech indeed!

Interesting information. I love anything related to do with phones, this is especially useful as I am looking to buy a couple of new phones for my son and daughter.
