It’s been quite a week for new touchscreen mobile phones, with the LG Arena and Toshiba TG01 both getting plenty of coverage, so now it’s Samsung’s turn to have another forthcoming phone prematurely revealed on the Internet – could this be another handset we’ll officially see at MWC 2009?

It’s called the i8910 HD  and it could be the successor to the i900 Omnia, despite the relative newness of that model.  The slim casing holds what looks like a nice large screen, the minimum of hardware keys and we wonder if the Acme will continue to run Samsung’s TouchWiz software or if Windows Mobile will feature.

Rumoured specification looks impressive whilst not breaking any new ground.  An 8 megapixel camera is likely along with 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS in the connectivity line-up, with DivX decoding for the video player too.  A 3.5mm jack plug will keep music fans happy and the phone should be available in either 8 or 16GB flavours.  Unusually, it’s suggested the phone will have an HDMI socket which presumably would be used to connect it to an HD TV for displaying high definition video – a first for a mobile phone – so it will be intersting to see if this becomes reality.

For another look at the this phone have a look at Recommened Buys’ Samsung i8910 HD Review and we also suggest checking out Mobile-Phones-UK’s Samsung i8910 HD Review.
