We had a sneak peak of the Samsung S5600 last month where we likened it to the ever-so-successful Tocco and generally got a little bit excited about it. Now Samsung have made an official announcement of the S5600 official along with the S5230, a sister phone with differing features allowing you to pick which suits your needs best. Let’s take a look at the S5600 first:

- A 2.8″ touchscreen with a resolution of 240×320.
- Rear mounted 3.2 megapixel camera lens.
- It’s a 3G phone with HSDPA support.
- MicroSD card slot.
Now here’s what to expect from the S5230:

- A 3″ touchscreen with a 240×400 resolution.
- A 3.2 megapixel camera.
- GPRS and EDGE support only.
- A thickness of 11.9mm makes it 1mm thinner than the S5600.
- Handwriting recognition.
We love the look of both these new phones from style-conscious Samsung, especially the sleek S5600. But looks aside, these two have another trick up their sleeves, something called Gesture Lock. This clever feature lets you draw a letter from A-Z, which corresponds to a function of the phone you specify, on the handset’s lock screen for it to unlock and open that feature! This is a really innovative time-saver!
Other shared features of the two mid-range mobiles include the TouchWIZ interface, Bluetooth v2.1, an accelerometer and the usual music and video players. Expect the S5260 to make an appearance during April and the S5600 in May, but we have yet to hear from Samsung any word on cost.
