10 Things Your Mobile Phone Can Remember For You

Do you know any of the phone numbers of the people that Big Brain Memoryyou call most frequently? Chances are that you never bothered to memorize them because you have them stored in your phone and never actually have to dial them yourself. Some people have said that this is a bad sign for the state of mankind; the less that we use our brains, the more likely it is that we’ll have a reduced ability to use them in the future. But who cares about that? We want instant gratification and we like to be lazy which means having our phones remember things for us so that we don’t need to bother. Phone numbers are hardly the only thing that your phone can remember for you these days. Take a look at these top ten things your phone can remember so that you don’t have to:

1. Where You’re Supposed To Be /  What You’re Supposed to be Doing.

The number one use of the calendar system that you have on your phone is that it provides you with a handheld method of always knowing where you’re supposed to be and what you’re supposed to be doing. Whether you use a simple calendar that came with the phone or you access something like Google Calendars from the mobile web, your mobile phone can store all of that information for you so that you just need to check it and figure out what you’re supposed to be doing next. Alternatively you can use calendar applications like BitBomb that will text message you with information about what you’re supposed to be doing when it’s time to do it.

2. What’s Nearby That You Could Do.

There are several new phone applications being created that are designed to alert you when you are physically located near something that is on your To Do list using the GPS system in the phone. For example, you may put into your To Do list that you need to pick up a prescription. When you’re on your way from work and get close to the drug store, the phone will alert you that you’re nearby and will remind you to go take care of whatever you needed to do. This way, you don’t need to remember your To Do list anymore and you don’t even need to remember where the closest store is.

3. That It’s Time To Take Your Medication.

Those of us who are on daily or weekly medication might not want to be bothered to remember when it’s time to take those meds. That’s okay; the mobile phone can remember for us. There are many different applications (such as Medication-Reminders.com and AMedsReminder.us) that offer this type of service. There are also some services that will remind you about doctor’s appointments in addition to med times.

4. Birthdays and Other Important Dates.

It’s really bad to forget your child’s birthday or the date of your anniversary but can you really be expected to keep that in your memory? Of course not. Store it in your phone instead. Most phones have an alarm system that will alert you when these important dates come up so that you can pretend that you knew it was that special day all along.

5. That It’s Time To Pray.

There are a lot of ridiculous phone applications out there that will do things for you that you should probably do yourself. One of those is remembering that it’s time to pray. If you don’t want to be bothered to remember that then you can rely on your mobile phone to do that for you. An example of this is SunDial which reminds Muslims of the different prayer times throughout the day.

6. When Bills Are Due.

Many different credit cards and banks have text messaging systems set up that will automatically notify you by text when you have bills coming due. This is part of the mobile banking system that is becoming increasingly popular around the world. There are also some places that have similar text message alerts for overdue rent. You can use these systems so that your phone will remember bill due dates for you and you won’t have to be bothered with trying to keep track of them on your own.

7. That It’s Time To Move Your Car.

There are some places around the world where you can use your mobile phone to pay for your parking even when you are not actually at your car. For example, there is a system in Enfield which lets you get more time for your parking just by using your phone (so that you don’t have to run back to the car to add more time to your spot). This system also offers an SMS alert that reminds you that it’s time to move your car or add time to your parking spot. This means that you don’t have to remember what time you’re supposed to get back to your car because your phone is doing that work for you.

8. Upcoming Things You Want To Be a Part Of.

How many times have you read a blog post about something that was going to be happening and thought to yourself, “I’d like to be a part of that” but then promptly forgot about it? Many bloggers and people on social networks are beginning to offer the option of getting a text message from them when the announced item is actually ready. For example, one blogger wanted people to get involved in tracking spending and offered to remind people to do their comparisons a month later by sending them a text.

9. To Get Green.

You want to recycle but you never remember to take your recycle bin out to the curb and then it starts to overflow and you just end up throwing it all away. You would like to put your junk out for bulky collections but you can never remember when that date is coming up. Get green by getting text message alerts when it’s time do these things!

10. Anything at All That You Want to Remind Yourself.

There are several systems out there which will allow you to easily set reminders for yourself of any kind and then your phone will remind you of those things at the time that you want to be reminded. 4Info.com and TextMemos are great examples of services that you can use so that you never have to actually remember anything without your phone’s help again.
