LG and Samsung Touchscreen Phones

If you want proof that the touchscreen mobile phone is the must-have gadget wherever you are in the world, look no further than the latest sales figures to come from Korea’s two top manufacturers – Samsung and LG.  Pioneering the style with the LG Prada and the Samsung F700 and Armani, they have gone on to create high-tech phones such as the new i8910 HD and the Viewty Smart.

All of this has seen then sell an impressive 20 million each since they started two years ago – that’s 1.6 million per month!  Perhaps even more impressive is the estimation that if growth continues as expected, 500 million touchscreen phones will have been sold by 2012!

To put these figures into context, it was recently revealed the T-Mobile G1 reached 1 million handset sales in the USA and Nokia took three months to build up 2.6 million sales of the 5800 XpressMusic – 860,000 per month – and that was during its peak interest release period.  Estimates of how many Apple iPhones have been sold vary, but a figure of 20 million worldwide, including the 2G iPhone, is most often quoted.

Are you one of the 40 million who have purchased a Samsung or LG touchscreen phone?  Are you so taken with this style of operation you’d never go back to a standard phone?  Let us know!
