If you have always had a traditional mobile phone equipped with an alphanumeric keypad, but have found yourself lusting after the sleek looks of the latest touchscreen phones, then the new Samsung Tocco Lite is a great introduction for those who don’t wish to splash out on one of the more expensive models, only to find out they hate the interface.
The original Samsung Tocco was a great phone and has recently seen a considerable upgrade to become the Tocco Ultra. The Tocco Lite retains the look and style of the original, with the 3″ 240×400 resistive touchscreen dominating the front panel and just three buttons below it. Its 93 gram weight and 11mm thickness makes it one of the most pocket or purse friendly touchscreen phones available too.
The Tocco Lite uses Samsung’s familiar OS with the TouchWIZ widget based user interface, where you drag closed programs from a sidebar onto the main screen, where they open and provide access to, amongst other things, your music player, your calendar and the clock. It’s fun to use and surprisingly handy! The cost of the phone has been kept down by omitting 3G, so Internet users will have to make do with EDGE or GPRS data transfer speeds. But, flip the phone over and you’ll find a 3.2 megapixel camera with smile detection and video shooting, plus the phone has an accelerometer, FM RDS radio and a MicroSD card slot for adding to the memory, so it doesn’t lack usable features.
This lightweight, attractive mobile phone is great for anyone wanting to dip their toe into the world of touchscreen mobile phones, or for someone wanting a style upgrade without a ton of features they’ll never use.

I’ve heard that this phone unlocks easily in your bag and does naughty things like go on the internet and play games and texts people and stuff when your not using it. Is this true? I don’t think it is, but even if it is it won’t switch on in the first place as the on button looks quite hard for some make-up to press. ;D
But also, some people have been saying that when you are talking to someone on call, they can’t hear you for a bit and then they do and then they don’t. It isn’t much of a problem for me as I won’t really be calling people, just texting, but still, it would be nice for me and people who will be calling to know.
I’m 10 and my Mum says this is my first and only phone unless I pay for another with pocket money myself, and I only get £2 if I’m good all week.
Thanks for reading.

Response from Samsung re stylus;
There has been an error with the Samsungwebsite image and we are trying
to get it removed. The phone is not supposed to have a sytlus and not
designed to work with one. This is something that we are trying to
rectify as soon as possible.
After having used the phone for a week I would definitely recommend it. This is my first touch screen and I find it easy to use.
i got a samsung tocco lite and when i take a photograph on it and set it as my background it is way too zoomed in and large. what size do i need to set the photographs to be for it to work? cos i miss not using my own photographs as my back ground?
does it come locked to any network? if yes, can anyone tell me if it can be unlocked going into the city center.
it absolutely fits the bill for most of the users’ requirements. And the price as well is appropriate.
got this phone as a replacemen for my Samsung J800, which succeeded my Samsung C100. My previous two phones each endured 2 years of being around me on beaches, cliffsides in the city and frequently on the floor. They truly lasted only affirming the quality of Samsung mobiles. The Tocco Lite is a welcome intro to touch phones which are undoubtedly the way forward. For those not fond of the touch noveltx, this is a great phone to begin the craze with, and is suitable for even the chubbier fingers. There are enhanced image editing tools, a great 3.2mp camera, radio, handwriting recognition, fake call, media player, document reader and widgets among other great features and nothing particularly unecessary. its stylish, slim and lightweight, with a very good battery, and up to 8gb memory expansion. The only flaws are that there is no stylus supplied, but they are cheap as chips. The charger didnt work and had to be replaced, but this was not a phone issue. Recommended and a welcome third iteration to my collection.
I got this phone a couple of weeks ago. I just sit there trying to think of something to text its so easy. This phone is so sexy I can’t put it down. And I just love the smart unlock, pick a letter and write it on the screen to unlock. It is just luvverly!!!
Got mine from Virgin mobile and the fact it came with a stylus was one of their selling points, I can’t find it despite Virgin confirming again today that it pulls out from the edge (because it looks like the corner of the phone in the picture). I have e-mailed Samsung so will post response.
Phone does seem good though

In the picture there is a stylus, and I bought the phone yesterday and it doesn’t have one. Is it supposed to or do you buy it separately?
Also to Amanda Palin, I bought the phone on T-mobile in the Carphone Warehouse for £110.
I really want this phone. I did previously want the Samsung Omnia HD and still do but it’s not on PAYG so i can’t get it. My only concern is that i can’t seem to find a stylus or microSD card for external memory. can anyone help me find those items please? I’ve read that there is no stylus made for it so i don’t expect that and i don’t really need it either but i do really need external microSD cards. PLEASE HELP!!!
