Sony Ericsson’s GreenHeart Phones Launched

Published June 5, 2009 by Andrew Boxall in Uncategorized

Sony Ericsson Green Heart Enviro-Friendly PhoneIt was September last year when Sony Ericsson first unveiled their environmental policy and the GreenHeart concept, which was to build an mobile phone that exceeded their current products in terms of environmental sustainability.  Yesterday, Sony Ericsson unveiled not one, but two GreenHeart mobile phones, the C901 and the Naite.

The C901 GreenHeart is based on the existing C901, which also has yet to make it to UK shores, so it has a 5 megapixel autofocus camera and xenon flash, GPS, 3G HSDPA and all the usual camera software you’d expect from a CyberShot branded mobile phone.  The C901 GreenHeart earns its green stripes by coming in a simple box, having an e-manual instead of a printed one and a body made of 50% recycled plastic painted with waterborne paint.  The included headset has also seen the green treatment as it’s made out of 100% recycled plastics.

The 3G Naite is not quite as high-spec as the C901, sporting a basic 2 megapixel , however it will include one of the world’s first low-power chargers.  The C901 GreenHeart is expected out very soon, with the Naite following before the end of the year.  Prices are yet to be confirmed, but if they’re sensible, we see the C901 GreenHeart being quite desirable.
