iPhone Augmented Reality Live in London

Published July 9, 2009 by Luke McKinney in News, Other

Augmented reality has escaped the realm of “it’d be cool if it worked” and into the real world, with the slick and seriously functional “Nearest Tube” application from developer acrossair.  Superimposing directions and distances over a real-time display, the application is proof that not all the best tech starts in Japan – as this app is currently London-only.

That’s bound to change as this app’s awesomeness inspires others to upgrade it (with the software already developed, new cities need only add data on public transport locations), but anyone with an iPhone and a London address really needs to check this out.  It turns your phone into an actual window to the future: a world with electronic information overlaid in a way anyone can see.

The future is here, and you can download it.
