LG BL40 Video – Is It Genuine?

Published July 14, 2009 by Andrew Boxall in Mobile Phones, News

A video which supposedly shows the next LG Black Label mobile phone in action has been doing the rounds on the Internet through the day, with many sites calling into question its authenticity.  News first broke of a Chocolate follow-up late last week, where we were surprised by its odd 21:9 aspect ratio screen, but excited to see exactly what LG were planning.

The video is polished and professional, and the phone itself very impressive, making it very difficult to imagine this has been cooked up by an undeniably talented fanboy.  The handset itself looks different to any other touchscreen phone in that it’s long and thin, with the screen measuring 4″ and displaying a resolution of 800×345.  This thinness is repeated when we see a profile shot too.

A super-smooth Flash UI complete with multi-touch and a similarity to S-Class is demonstrated, although we would question just how close to reality this smoothness is, while HSDPA, Wi-Fi, a Schneider Kreuznach-lensed camera with touch focus, ‘scratch proof’ glass covering the screen and widescreen video are also mentioned.

The video ends with a ‘Coming Soon in 2009′ message, and many are expecting an official announcement to come next month.  If it turns out to be genuine, this video has got us very excited about the next LG Black Label phone!  Now all they need is a great name, as the BL40 just doesn’t do it justice!
