Sony Ericsson’s Rachael is one of the most exciting pre-release mobile phones to have been leaked over the last few months, and now we have some more solid details concerning its specification. The phone has appeared as a pre-order via an online retailer, but with no price or release date attached, under the name of Xperia X3.
As we know, Rachael will be running Google’s Android OS on its 4″ touchscreen, however there is some confusion as to the screen’s resolution, with some sources quoting an odd 852×480 pixels rather than the 800×400 stated in the advert. The phone will be a 3G handset with both HSDPA and HSUPA, plus Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, Assisted GPS and a 3.5mm jack plug socket. Perhaps most interesting is the 8.1 megapixel autofocus camera complete with image stabilisation, smile and face detection and an LED flash – making it the the first Android with a high quality camera onboard.
If priced correctly, Sony Ericsson could be on to a winner here, as it’s shaping up to be as well specified as it is good-looking, something which Android phones simply haven’t been up until now. Presumably, we’re going to have to wait until the X2 is officially announced before we hear anything more on the X3, so come on Sony Ericsson!
