Blackberry Curve, 8520It has been out for about a week now and the BlackBerry Curve has managed to stay pretty much under the radar. But, it’s about time that changed. Here skulking un-noticed is one of the more affordable smartphones.

This phone has something for everyone, 2 megapixel camera, full QWERTY keyboard, document applications allowing access to Word, Excel and PDF files on the go, and that all important media sync to hook up to iTunes.

Now, being the ‘budget’ smartphone, its got a lot to prove. Of course there has got to be cut-backs somewhere. Realistically, they’re everywhere (so to speak) what BlackBerry has done is lower the specifications across the board, meaning you get all the features you’d expect from a smartphone in its simplest form. This isn’t to say that it’s a bad phone, far from it. It is what it is, an affordable smartphone. It still has email capabilities, up to 32 GB of external storage and fast browsing.

For the media savvy among us, there are dedicated media keys, giving you quick and easy control over both the music player and other multimedia features, you can also take photos and upload them straight to social networking sites.

This is clearly the forerunner of BlackBerry’s non-3G range of devices, and is the perfect handset for those taking their first steps into the Blackberry world. Its simple and practical, and with it being the lightest Blackberry yet it wont weigh you down.
