It’s naughty because that chrome body could, in the wrong situation, be mistaken for something else entirely, but nice because finally, Nokia have bestowed one of their image conscious 8800 models with – wait for it – some actual features! Currently known only by its codename of Erdos, this forthcoming 8800 will not be part of the Arte range, instead occupying its own space in the line-up.
Before we divulge its features, lets take a look at the design. Nokia clearly want the Erdos to appear as if it’s been machined from a solid block of silver, with the screen turning a similar shade when not in use, and the keypad being completely covered by the central slider. When opening the phone, the keypad raises up to make pressing the keys simpler and more comfortable, while the camera lens is revealed around the back.
So, on to those features. The Erdos will be running Symbian S60 3rd Edition, making it a smartphone, and the screen will be a 2.4″ OLED item with a 320×240 pixel resolution. The 5 megapixel camera will feature a Carl Zeiss lens, autofocus and a dual-LED flash, plus the Erdos will contain a sizable 8GB of internal memory, however it won’t have a MicroSD card slot. Connectivity wise, it’ll be 3G and have Wi-Fi, Assisted GPS and A2DP Bluetooth.
We should know more during October, but for now, take a look at the less-than-HD quality leaked video for the Erdos’s smooth operation.
