Nokia have today added two new mid-range mobile phones to their portfolio, the 6700 Slide and the 7230. They are both penciled in for a release during the first quarter of 2010 at a competitively low price, and Nokia are pushing them as being social networking-friendly phones. This may be the fashionable thing at the moment, but their specification suggests there is more to them than simply that.
The 6700 Slide.
We already love the 6700 Classic, but the 6700 Slide promises to be a far more outgoing option than its conservative sister phone! It’ll be available in six shockingly bright colours – including pink, lime and purple – and the big D-pad gives the front panel a chunky-but-funky look. Here are the key technical features of the 6700 Slide:
-
Symbian S60 operating system.
-
A 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, autofocus and a dual-LED flash.
-
3G with HSDPA and HSUPA.
-
MicroSD card memory slot which accepts cards up to 16GB.
The little 6700 Slide weighs 110 grams and comes with the usual Ovi suite of apps, Bluetooth and an FM radio too.
The 7230.
The 7230 is slightly lower in the range than the 6700, but is still an attractive handset with a decent spec list. Nokia have decided to give you a choice of two colours for your 7230, stylish Graphite or a significantly less subtle Hot Pink! Here are the other feature highlights:
-
Standard Series 40 operating system.
-
A 3.2 megapixel camera.
-
MicroSD card slot with a 2GB card included.
-
3G.
The phone also has an FM radio and Bluetooth.
While the 7230 will be great for younger phone users, the 6700 Slide is another mid-range Nokia triumph thanks to its brilliant list of features and good-looking casing. Like the Classic, we’re sure the Slide will prove to be very popular!

nice phones. I’m impressed now with Nokia when it comes to producing cheap high quality phones, and it seems that they have changed the way they design their phones as well.
