LG Avoid Mobile World Congress 2010

Published January 4, 2010 by Andrew Boxall in News

mobile-congress.JPGIt’s one of the biggest mobile phone trade shows in the world and one where many new phones, accessories and technology makes its debut, but this year’s Mobile World Congress is now missing a second big name manufacturer in the shape of LG, who have announced they will not be taking a stand at the show.

This news comes a few weeks after Nokia also confirmed they would not be attending MWC 2010, a statement quickly followed by an announcement they would be having their own little show nearby instead.  Will LG decide to do the same?  They have stated that the high cost of maintaining a stand for the four-day event is a contributing factor in their decision, something which Nokia also commented on.

If you’re not sure why LG are such a loss – aside from them being one of the largest phone manufacturers in the world – it was during last year’s MWC event that we first saw the gorgeous LG GD900 for example, many months before it went on sale, so it will be a shame if they don’t exhibit any new hardware during the always-exciting show.

Mobile World Congress 2010 is held in Barcelona and runs from the 15th February to the 18th.
