2010 Calendar of Mobile Phone Events

Want to learn more about mobile phones in 2010? Your best bet is to attend one of the world’s cutting edge mobile phone events. This is where you can see the latest concept phones, watch new apps be revealed, purchase mobile phone accessories and screen the latest mobile movies. Below you’ll find the 2010 calendar of mobile phone events that you might want to make plans to visit.

JANUARY

Prepaid Mobile Summit, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is a very niche topic mobile industry event for people who work in the prepaid phone business. It’s not a top mobile phone event of the year but it’s the first one of 2010. It’s January 26th and 27th.

FEBRUARY

Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain. This is one of the top events of the year attended by people who work in the mobile phone industry. It’s being held in Barcelona on February 15th – 18th. The top people from all of the leading businesses in the mobile phone industry come together for a congress. At the same time is a mobile phone exhibition which is the largest of them all. Over 50,000 people attend this event each year. Are you going to be one of them?

Thailand Mobile Expo. This event is a much smaller event that takes place in Thailand on February 4-7.

Digital World, St Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. This is  single event that is actually comprised of a bunch of smaller events on digital technology. Some of these smaller events related to mobile phones. For example there is a section on mobile phone education.

Mobile and Wireless HealthCare, Birmingham, UK. Mobile phones and medicine are starting to really go hand-in-hand these days. This Feb. 24th conference discusses the latest information on this topic.

Mobile Beat 2010 DJ Show, Las Vegas, NV, USA. This is a really fun one. Mobile beat is a magazine for people who put together entertainment designed to be show on mobile devices. Their annual DJ show and conference is February 9-11.

MARCH

CTIA Wireless, Las Vegas, NV, USA. This conference has been going on for a quarter of a century and it’s still one of the best ones in the industry. It brings you information about everything that’s going on in the wireless world from mobile phones to wireless broadband news. It’s happening March 23rd to 25th in Vegas. Cloud computing, mobile social networking and mobile health are all issues that might be covered.

Mobile Research Conference, London, UK. Did you know that there’s an entire conference devoted to the topic of mobile surveys?! It’s happening March 8th and 9th.

Mobile Learning 2010, Porto, Portugal. There’s also an entire conference devoted to the topic of mobile education and learning via mobile communication. What an interesting niche topic. It’s being held March 19 – 21.

Independent Games Festival, San Francisco, CA, USA. This is a conventions for all kinds of different video games and it includes a section on handheld or mobile phone games. It’s March 9-13.

ICMUPC, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. That stands for the International Conference on Mobile, Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing. Sounds like an interesting one to check out doesn’t it? This one is March 29-31.

Marketing 2.0 Conference, Paris, France. This is for people who are interested in modern marketing which definitely includes mobile marketing in 2010. It’s March 22nd and 23rd.

APRIL

UK MTEB Mobile Forensics. One of the most interesting new conferences to come on the mobile phone scene is this one which started up last year. It’s devoted to the unique topic of mobile phone forensics. It’s April 20-22nd in the UK.

CMC 2010, Shenzhen, China. This is a conference related to mobile computing as well as traditional mobile phone communication. It’s April 12 – 14.

MAY

Mobilight, Barcelona, Spain. This is the second annual conference on the topic of “lightweight, wireless communication devices with high usability and performance able to support added-value services in a highly mobile environment”. It takes place May 10-12.

JUNE

Festival Pocket Films, Paris, France. This is a film festival featuring movies that were filmed on pocket size cameras. This means that most of the movies were filmed on mobile phones. The dates on this one are June 18-20.

MobiSYS, San Francisco, CA, USA. This event is where people come together to talk about mobile phone systems and applications. It’s being held June 15 – 18.

MobilWare 2010, Chicago, IL, USA. This event used to be held in Europe but now it’s in the U.S. It’s designed to be a place for discussion about the software that enables communication via mobile phones. It’s happening June 30th through July 2nd.

IWCMC, Caen, France. On the exact some dates as the MobilWare conference is this French conference on mobile communications and mobile computing.

WiMO 2010, Ankara, Turkey. This is an annual event related to wireless and mobile networks. This is the second year that it will be happening. It’s on June 26-28.

JULY

Expo Comm Wireless Japan, Tokyo, Japan. 180 companies from ten different companies come together at this event to share information about the wireless world. This one happens July 14-16.

AUGUST

ICWCUCA, Val-d’Or, Canada. This is the International Conference on Wireless Communications in Underground and Confined Areas. If that’s a topic that interests you then the dates that you want to mark on your calendar are August 23 – 25th.

WiMoN, Chennai, India. There isn’t a lot of information available yet for this second annual conference on wireless and mobile networks but it happens August 20 – 22.

SEPTEMBER

WiCOM, Chengdu, China. Are you involved or interested in the academics and research side of the wireless industry? If so then this is the 2010 conference for you because that’s what this one is all about. It’s being held September 23rd – 25th.

MobiMedia, Lisbon, Portugal. This is an annual conference on the topic of mobile multimedia communications. This year’s event, held September 6-8, is going to focus on green issues in this sector.

BlackBerry Developer Conference, San Francisco, CA, USA. This September 27th event is specifically for mobile app developers working on the BlackBerry platform.

MobileHCI2010, Lisboa, Portugal. This is the 12th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices and Services. It takes place September 7th – 10th.

OCTOBER

CEWIT, New York, United States. There isn’t any information out yet for the third annual Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology. It typically takes place in October in the New York area though. Keep your eyes out for info later in the year.

Mobilize, San Francisco, CA. This is a single-day event happening sometime in October which is designed to talk about the next generation of mobile technology.

Hollywood Mobile Film Festival, Hollwood, CA, USA. This annual film festival has a section for films made on a mobile phone. It happens October 20 – 25.

MobiHealth, Ayia Napa, Cyprus. This is another event that focuses on mobile phones in medicine. It’s happening October 18 – 20.

NOVEMBER

Mobile Adult Content Congress. I can’t find exact dates or locations for this one yet but it’s one that is a niche mobile phone conference that might be worth checking out. It’s for people who are interested in mobile phone porn. In the past it’s been held in Florida, US and London, UK. 2010 is the 5th year of this annual event.

Vietnam Telecomp, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. This is a lesser-known annual conference in the mobile industry but it’s actually been going on for more than one dozen years. It covers everything it can about telecommunications and information technology so it’s not strictly a mobile conference but there’s mobile news there. It’s November 17th – 20th.

DECEMBER

There appear to be no major events planned for December 2010 as of yet. It’s a year away though so maybe something will come up between now and then!What would you like to attend?
