Back in October we reported on research that indicated that Americans might consider their mobile phones to be more important to sex. Europeans scoffed at Americans at the time but now those folks have to put their smirks away. That’s because a new survey shows that more UK women would prefer to lose their boyfriends or best friends than to lose their mobile phones. The survey asked 4000 British women what they would most hate to lose. They would hate to lose their mothers and their photographs more than anything else. Coming it at number third, however, was mobile phones. After that they’d hate to lose their best friends and then following up in a sad fifth place was their boyfriends. A full forty percent of women would hate to lose their phones.
This doesn’t mean that men don’t matter of course. The ladies would rather hang on to their men than to their pets, laptops and even their diamond rings. But they want their mobile phone even more than they want to keep all of those things. And of course it could be argued that they may be more likely to lose their mobile phones than their men anyway so perhaps it’s just a matter of what’s most likely.
Maybe some of these women need to get their hands on the new Zomm product. It’s being called the first mobile phone wireless leash. It’s a device that you stick on your keychain which you presumably always carry with you. It alerts you whenever you move too far away from your mobile phone to help you make sure that you don’t lose it or forget it somewhere. Now if only they made one of those for men …
