LG’s Second Android Phone, the GT540 Swift, Spotted at CES

Published January 12, 2010 by Andrew Boxall in Mobile Phones

LG GT540LG have been promising plenty of Android-based mobile phones will be coming from them during 2010, and here is what’s likely to be the first, the GT540 Swift.  Going the way of many LG phones, the Swift’s design is excellent, with its curved corners, concave end plates and textured battery cover giving the Swift a high quality, fashionable look.  The spec list looks like this:

  • A 3″ 320×480 touchscreen.
  • A 3 megapixel camera with autofocus.
  • 3G with HSDPA and HSUPA.
  • Google Android 2.0.
  • DivX support.
  • Social Networking widgets.

There has been no confirmation on whether Wi-Fi or GPS are onboard, however judging by the spec of this and the first LG Android phone, the GW620 Eve/Etna, we would expect it to at least have Wi-Fi, but wonder about GPS.  Like the GW620, the Swift has a resistive touchscreen rather than the capacitive type found on many other Android phones, so the price is likely to reflect this.

Other features include Bluetooth, a 3.5mm jack socket and an SD memory card slot.  With its pretty design and emphasis on social networking, the Swift is likely to be a hit with younger buyers, but they’ll have to wait until its expected release during April to get their hands on one.
