Cheeky! LG Gets Fresh with New Cookie GS290

Published March 8, 2010 by Andrew Boxall in Mobile Phones, News

Three unannounced touchscreen phones from LG were spotted at the CeBIT show late last week and now the first of them has been made official; it’s the GS290 Cookie Fresh.  This is the second Cookie phone to come from LG this year, following the demise of the insanely popular original Cookie in 2009, and will occupy a spot below the Cookie Plus in LG’s 2010 line-up.

Here are the confirmed specifications:

  • A 2 megapixel camera.
  • 3″ resistive touchscreen.
  • A 3.5mm headphone socket.
  • MicroSD card slot.
  • Bluetooth and an FM radio.

The Cookie Fresh uses LG’s active wallpaper feature named Live Square.  This cleverly brings your most frequent contacts to your homescreen as little avatars who let you know when you have received a message from them, plus making it quick and easy to get in contact too.  A Facebook widget is also part of the social networking aspect of the Cookie Fresh.

The phone will come in ten different colours and will be out before the end of the month in Europe and Asia.  Although we like the look of the Cookie Fresh and the colours appear to be suitably bright, we’re not sure who would choose this over the already available, and slightly better equipped, LG Pop?
