Samsung to Steal Tablet Title?

Published March 17, 2010 by Harriet Rhodes in Mobile Phones, News

It wasn’t all that long ago that the Apple iPad was announced, a revolutionary tablet device, or at least that’s what the company would have us believe. With a few major issues haunting the Apple tablet, it seems Samsung is hot on its heels to deliver a better quality PC-like device.

A senior executive at Samsung has confirmed that they will be releasing a ‘slate’ PC later this year. Despite keeping quiet about which platform it will run on, and well pretty much everything else, Samsung did say that connectivity and PC-Standard processing power will be core features of the device, two key areas where the iPad under performs.

While the Samsung Big Wigs understand the significance of the Smartphone, they have their sights on the tablet market too, believing there are vast improvements to be made, Samsungs Philip Newton told Australian site APC: “I do feel that that slate-type platform has legs but I think the legs need to be far more powerful, for example an Atom-based product which has far greater flexibility, not to mention inputs and outputs. This has more potential than an iPad.”

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one!
