The HTC Ace was one of the devices appearing in the huge leak we featured last week, and was something of a mystery, with no spec details or basic feature list. We haven’t had to wait long to see what it’s all about though, as the Ace is now known as the HTC Desire HD, and here’s what it’ll bring to the smartphone table:
- Qualcomm’s 1Ghz Snapdragon processor.
- A 4.3″ touchscreen.
- An 8 megapixel camera.
- Google Android 2.2.
- 4GB internal memory.
The camera is also rumoured to shoot 720p video and we would imagine an HDMI out will be found on the casing to transmit the files to your TV. Speaking of the casing, Slash Gear suggest it could follow in the Legend’s footsteps and be made from a single piece of aluminium – great news, as the Legend is still one good-looking phone!
The specification appears to be similar to the US HTC Evo 4G, but without the 4G obviously, with a little bit of the HD2 added in for good measure. We’ve lusted after an Android version of the HD2 – the best Windows Mobile phone ever made – for a while, and are really pleased it’s potentially happening soon.
The rumours conclude with a repeat of the Ace’s release window, that of October 2010.

This seems like the ideal handset for lovers of the Legend and Desire, it would appear to be a combination of the two, with HD video recording bundled in!
