The BlackBerry Style has been on our radar for a while and all went quiet on this front when RIM’s PlayBook tablet made its public debut. Things have picked up again, after Boy Genius Report received this rather revealing shot from a contact at US carrier, Sprint that shows off plenty of details about the upcoming clamshell handset.
As predicted, it’s shaping up to be the second BlackBerry OS6 device and is listed as being exclusive to Sprint, so we’ll have to wait and see if RIM plan on bringing it over here too. What’s particularly interesting about this leak is the handset being listed as the BlackBerry Oxford, which we assumed was its codename. Maybe RIM had a last minute change of heart!
The Oxford/Style will be retailing at $99.99 (around £60) on a two year contract which we think is a pretty good price for a clamshell QWERTY that has the latest BlackBerry OS, a 5 megapixel camera plus Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities. The device is due to be released in the US on October 31st, so we’re sure any questions we have will be answered soon.
