LG Optimus 7, Optimus 7Q and Quantum Windows Phone 7 Handsets, What’s the Difference?

Published October 13, 2010 by Andrew Boxall in Mobile Phones, News

Don’t you just love phones with similar sounding names, similar spec sheets and the often confusing business of searching for them on the Internet to find out exactly which one you’ll be able to buy? This is exactly the case with LG, who have thrown two  Windows Phone 7 devices into the mix. The Optimus 7 and the  Optimus 7Q, which will be known as the Quantum in the US.

First of all, let’s look at the territories and this is where it all becomes clear. The LG Quantum, also known as the C900, is the American version of the 7Q and has a slide out keyboard. The 7Q on the other hand, is coming to Europe with the Optimus 7, a candybar touchscreen device with a product code of E900.

Moving onto features and here is the Quantum/7Q’s spec list:

  • 3.5″ capacitive touchscreen with an 800 x 480 resolution.
  • 1GHz Snapdragon processor.
  • 3G with HSDPA and HSUPA.
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1.
  • DLNA certification.
  • 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and an LED flash.
  • GPS with a digital compass.

This leaves us with the LG Optimus 7, which we covered when it was officially announced on Monday, and it shares the majority of the features found on the Quantum/7Q aside from the slide-out keyboard and having a slightly smaller 3.8″ touchscreen.

The UK should see both the Optimus 7 and 7Q on the 21st October, while the Quantum will be out in the USA on the 8th November. Enjoy LG’s Optimus 7Q TV advert below, which makes a point of showcasing WP7 and their own augmented reality ScanSearch app.
