Samsung Galaxy Tab to be ‘Tube-Tested’ in London ahead of UK Launch.

Published October 14, 2010 by Louise Reid in Featured, Mobile Phones, News

It’s not very often we get the chance to try out one of this year’s hottest new gadgets ahead of its UK release, but Samsung are giving Londoners the chance to do just that. From Monday 18th October, commuters on the London Underground can take the brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab along for the ride thanks to the ‘tube test’ incentive which will be running for the next two weeks.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is tipped to be the tablet the iPad should watch out for, and this trial is a perfect opportunity for the manufacturer to win gadget fans over before its UK release on November 1st. The tablet’s slightly smaller 7 inch screen could also be a hit with commuters and of course, the built in camera and video calling capabilities which its Apple rival lacks.

Tube regulars may be quick to point out that the lack of signal in the tunnels doesn’t provide a great platform to trial a device that can make calls. In fact, anyone who gets their hands on a Galaxy Tab can keep it for up to 48 hours. Great for really putting the tablet through its paces, but not so great when you have to give it back at the end of your trial period!

Participants can pick up a Samsung Galaxy Tab from Liverpool Street, Balham, Highbury & Islington and Ealing Broadway on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the next two weeks. Anyone interesting in taking part will need to email galaxytab@tubetest.co.uk or speak to a member of Samsung staff at one of the four participating tube stations.

If you get the opportunity to test run a Samsung Galaxy Tab, make sure you get in touch as we would love to hear what you think of it. We’re not jealous that we don’t live in London…not one bit!
