Appearing in some leaked User Agent code is some more evidence of a new phone from HTC named the Doubleshot. While the code still doesn’t provide any pictorial evidence of the phone itself, it does give a brief rundown of the Doubleshot’s spec list; adding to the speculation started with a Picasa photo earlier this month.
The Doubleshot name has led many sources to speculate the phone will be heading to the US network T-Mobile, as the aging HTC-built MyTouch 3G Slide was first codenamed the Espresso. It could also take its codename from the dual-core processor or QWERTY/touch input method.
According to the leak, the processor will be a dual-core 1.2Ghz Snapdragon chip, making it the most powerful slider phone yet to be released. The screen will have a 480 x 800 pixel resolution and measure 4-inches, while the camera will be at least 6 megapixels (probably the standard 8) and if the test snap is correct, it’ll have HDR photo-processing built-in.
Running the Doubleshot will be Android 2.3 Gingerbread and it’s expected to launch around July this year. We didn’t get a version of the MyTouch 3G Slide, but there’s always a chance HTC will tweak the design and send it over here too. Provided they’ve also tweaked the design (the MyTouch isn’t much of a looker) we won’t say no to a dual-core slider!
