HTC has announced via an official Facebook page that they will be holding a special event in London the day before the IFA consumer electronics show begins in Berlin. HTC are not the only ones to be holding a pre-event, um, event either; as Samsung has also teased us with news of an Unpacked event, also on 1 September.
We’re being asked to join HTC ‘to see what’s next’, but other than that, they haven’t given anything away concerning the products they’ll be showing off. However, this doesn’t stop us from having a few educated guesses!
The CEO of the company, Peter Chou, has already gone on record saying we can expect between six and eight new models this final quarter, all in the mid-to-high end of the range. Fair enough, some of these are probably going to run Windows Phone 7 Mango, which while these would be great to see at the event, a sprinkling of Android devices seems more likely.
The most recent Android rumour concerns the Vigor, potentially the first phone to incorporate the Beats by Dre audio technology, then we have the Ruby with its 4.3-inch screen and 1.5GHz processor, and the Holiday – another dual-core Android phone, this time with a possible 4.5-inch screen! It may not be all about phones either, as we’re still waiting for the Puccini, the Honeycomb-based tablet already linked with the September 1 date.
Whatever happens, HTC almost always has something exciting to show us, and we doubt this new event will be any different!
