Last week, a tweet from Mobile-Review’s Eldar Murtazin hinted that Nokia would be launching a device named the Lumia 910 soon, and that it would improve on the US-only Lumia 900 by featuring a 12 megapixel camera.
While Mr Murtazin is known to be well connected in the mobile industry, his comments didn’t square with other rumours that Nokia was planning a European release of the Lumia 900 without the LTE radio, as the two devices wouldn’t logically sit together in the range.
Over the weekend, a new piece in the Lumia 910 puzzle has come to light, in the form of an advert for the phone appearing on a Dutch retailer’s website. The page shows a picture of an AT&T-branded phone, so presumably it’s a Lumia 900, under the name of the Lumia 910, which according to the spec sheet has a 12 megapixel camera.
Other specs include a 4.3-inch, 480 x 800 pixel AMOLED touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.1, a forward-facing video call camera, an 1830mAh battery and a 1.4GHz processor – all exactly the same as the Lumia 900.
So, does this make the Lumia 910 real? Well, it certainly lends weight to the earlier rumour, and a quick look around the website reveals the presence of both a Galaxy S III and an iPhone 5 page, but it makes it quite clear these are place holders for forthcoming phones. This treatment of unannounced devices also suggests the Lumia 910′s page is more than just conjecture.
The Lumia 900/Lumia 910 mystery will probably be solved during Mobile World Congress, but we doubt we’ve heard the last of these two just yet.
